Hi. You already have been granted sysop access for another 3 months. You requested it in the wrong section, that's why it isn't there any more. Please look at Requests for permissions#Dsvyas@guwiki. Best regards, --Thogo (talk) 14:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, it was not me who granted the access. :O) Thank Spacebirdy. But to answer your question, if the community on gu.wikipedia is large enough (let's say at least around 5 regular contributors, but that's not a fixed number) you should just hold an administrator election and let the community approve you. That would be sufficient for us to change your access to permanent. Otherwise you will have to drop a short note on RfP at the end of the 3-months term. Maybe we can make a 6-months term next time, I guess that would be no problem. --Thogo (talk) 19:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello, np., I think Thogo already answered Your question regarding the permanent access, please note, that the temporary status is technically the same, You can do exactly the same things, so don't worry about it, as You can see, if there are no problems, the access is prolonged very fast. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| ? 11:31, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. No, I guess notifying people about elections on their talk pages is not a very good idea. (At least in other projects it's considered canvassing.) The better thing would be to notify the community at the place where questions about the project can be asked or on the talk page of the main page maybe. --Thogo (talk) 12:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, sure, I guess it would be no problem to list Yourself there, You could also add additional info next to each listed user there (active/inactive) so people know whom to contact.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| ? 12:34, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry, I don't have the impression You did anything wrong, I just wanted to let You know, that You do not have to do anything for him to get support. I let You know, because he does that kind of thing on lots of small projects and gets people to do translation jobs for him. I have no problem if he only asked for it but it sometimes looks like blackmailing and taking advantage of the fact that smaller projects are in need of every help they can get. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| ? 13:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

re:Error while Using Template:coord

[edit]

Hello Dsvyas, this is not working because not all templates used in [1] already exist in gu.wiki, please have a look at [2], where You can see the templates used in the template underneath the edit window.

(the other thing I try to respond tomorrow), best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 03:00, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is a possibility to import the templates, but for being able to import from a certain wiki, You need to file a bugreport at bugzilla: to open transwiki from that specific wiki for gu.wiki (there also would be the import flag, but that one might be more dangerous).
But imho the problem generally with the en.wiki templates is, that they are very complicated, and many people work on them, when working on a smaller wiki I personally would not use them but create more simple templates but that could be handled by one person.
The work around would be to create the missing templates, because the template is now missing parameters and therefore not working correctly.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 14:01, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello Dhaval, You don't bother me ;)
There is Help:Templates, Help:Advanced templates and Help:Parserfunctions, which are helpful but which can't of course provide solutions to evey problem. The best thing is to learn by doing, the problem with the templates from en.wiki is, that they often include many other templates and use lots of parserfunctions, thus work like litte programs and are hard to understand (You have to search each in the template included template and look at the functions used there and when other templates are included with a parserfunction that does not return them in the template itself but only where they are included under a certain condition, they are not shown underneath the edit window, so You'd even have to search for used templates manually to make it work somewhere else too)
Of course if You wish the exact same functionallity You might not find a better solution. But sometimes it helps to look at similar articles on other Wikipedias, because they have some slightly different templates but also good working ones that are not that complicated.
So the trick is to find all subtemplates included in the template You want to use and if there is a javascript that is missing in gu:MediaWiki:Common.js, the error console of Firefox helps to see that (it is really great to help to find errors). If there is a class, like class="..." somewhere in a table, div-tag,... You have to check if this class is defined in gu:MediaWiki:Common.css to see the same formating.
Hope that helped You a bit, best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 14:12, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

re:Map Source

[edit]

Hello Dhaval, I am sorry, I thought this was already answered, so I forgot it.

Please can You give me an example, a page where the error occurs,

best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 20:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I see, they meant to change the link to this address, but it seems then You'd need a template for the links at gu:Template:GeoTemplate (which include also gu:Template:GeoTemplate/Lang and gu:Template:TOCgeohack), You might wish to translate that (I just took it 1:1 from en.wiki.

needs updating

[edit]

That concerns the two last points, "Hide" and "Help us with translations!", we need translations of those too. Regards, Finn Rindahl 12:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've changed the status. For most languages we had "hide" and "help us..." already, but it didn't seem we had that one for gu: If you've done that translation before as well we may have forgotten to update it tha last time. Thanks for taking care of this, I've updated the status to ready (Cbrown or someone will publish it later). Best regards, Finn Rindahl 13:11, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

re:Paragraph break (line break)

[edit]

Hello Dhaval, I am confused, I do see a line break. It is achieved by a blank line which produces a new paragraph, there is no <br> in the source code. For example this

will cause a new paragraph, this one
a line break.

re:Multiple accounts

[edit]

Hello Dhaval, I don't see any problem if he is using more than one account, only if he abuses them (uses them for votings etc.). Best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 13:34, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Dhaval, You can only either ask him or suspect it by his style of contributing/writing, but a checkuser would not be justified if he did nothing bad with the accounts, because of privacy protection and because using more than one accounts is only forbidden if used for voting/pov-pushing/vandalism/etc., best regards, --birdy geimfyglie (:> )=| 16:56, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

FDC Centralnotice translation to Gujarati

[edit]

Hi Dsvyas , thanks for your translation ! Just to double-check: Are we sure the amount is given as $10 million (ten million) in the translation, rather than 1 million (one million)? If you are confident everything is correct, we can put it live. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 20:19, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, 1 million in Indian numeric system is 10 lakh, and hence 10 million is 1 Crore, which translate in Gujarati as ? ????. You may proceed with putting it live.--DhavalTalk 22:18, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Translate some names for hundreds software projects including MediaWiki

[edit]

Hello, I'm writing you because you subscribed to a Language support team. As you know, Wikimedia projects exist in almost 300 languages; supporting them all is a big effort so we partner with other organisations. One small but visible thing we miss is that many interwiki links in sidebar (among others) don't offer a translation of the language name when hovered. We're now able to translate 100 more language names in your language.

If you're interested, I can create you an account to submit translations on the CLDR web tool (within June 14): please send an email to ask one and I'll follow up with instructions. On CLDR you can translate and tweak many other things, if you desire; your work will impact hundreds of software projects. Thanks, Nemo 17:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Nemo, I have emailed you.--DhavalTalk 13:16, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Superprotect letter update

[edit]

Hi Dsvyas,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:41, 26 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global CSS/JS migration

[edit]

Hello Dsvyas. You have a global.js page which contains your global scripts for all wikis. Since August 19th 2014, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis (see announcement). Since you already load them yourself on some wikis, you may experience script errors or issues like tools being added twice. I can fix that for you by merging your local scripts and styles into your global pages, and deleting the local pages with synchbot. Do you want me to do that? —Pathoschild 18:56, 08 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Pathoschild, thank you very much for contacting me regarding this and bringing my attention to it. Yes please, will really appreciate if you could help me by fixing this. Thanks in advance!--DhavalTalk 22:22, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to the Project Grants Committee

[edit]

Hi Dsvyas,

Thanks for signing up to join the Project Grants Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We've got a lot to accomplish together, particularly during the next 2 months, and it will be awesome to have your help. Here is how to get started!

To make your membership official, please email mjohnson(_AT_)wikimedia · org by Sunday, August 14, and include the following three pieces of information:

  1. Your preferred email address for the committee mailing list
  2. Your preferred username for the committee's scoring tool
  3. Indicate all of the times from this list that would work for you to participate in a Committee Orientation:
    7. if none of the above times work for you, please provide at least two times that would work for you (be sure to indicate the date and the time zone)

Then, there are 2 first tasks for active committee members to start on right away:

  1. Read the information in the Committee Workroom (your committee organizing hub on meta), beginning with the getting started guide for new members.
  2. Start giving feedback on open proposals. Ask questions or make suggestions on the proposal talk pages to gather information you’ll need to make a recommendation. Your input helps prospective grantees think their projects all the way through and helps other committee members with their own review. The more you can support applicants now, the stronger the proposals we'll have to choose from.

The general calendar for this round is as follows:

Round 1 2016 schedule

Open call: 1 July – 2 August

Proposal deadline: 2 August

Staff eligibility review: 3–9 August

Community review: 10–23 August

Committee review: 24 August – 6 September

Grantees announced: 7 October

Grants disbursed: October

+

Our formal review of proposals starts on August 24. WMF staff will be posting information about scoring and selection of proposals on the committee mailing list, so please keep an eye there!

Thanks again for joining us to help make impactful Project Grants! :-)

[edit]

Hello, Thank you for signing up for the small wiki toolkits workshops. The first workshop on the topic of “Pywikibot framework introduction & installation” is coming up - it will take place on Friday, February 25th at 16:00 UTC. You can find more details on the workshop and a link to join here.

We will record this workshop and update the workshops page with the link later. Also, a quick note on the certificate distribution we shared briefly in a previous announcement - out of the eight planned workshops, individuals who will complete five and a final assignment will receive a digital certificate.

We look forward to your participation! Cheers, Srishti (talk) (On behalf of the SWT Workshops Organization team) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:00, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
